The first phase of this project assessed what current economic research and data suggest about capital access for businesses in the U.S. with particular attention to rural businesses and entrepreneurs. The review focused on two distinct parts of the capital market – the supply side including both debt and equity capital, and the demand side including the quality of both the entrepreneurs and the ventures they create.
