Brian Dabson, RUPRI's President & CEO has been invited by the William J. Clinton Foundation to participate in the Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) on September 22-25, 2009 in New York City.
President Clinton launched CGI in 2005 to bring together, by invitation only, heads of state, business executives, nonprofit and foundation directors, philanthropists, academics, and religious leaders to move beyond discussion of the world's greatest challenges and take action in the areas of economic empowerment, education, energy and climate change, and global health. The 2009 Annual Meeting will mark five years of positive results and progress as more than 100 current and former heads of state; 14 Noble Peace Prize winners; hundreds of leading global CEOs, heads of foundations, major and philanthropists ; and directors of the most effective nongovernmental organizations make Commitments to Action to tackle critical issues. This year will focus on the forging of collaborations between private sector, public sector, and civil society in harnessing innovation for development, strengthening infrastructure, developing human capital, and financing a sustainable future.
Brian Dabson's participation is both recognition of the 20 years of effective work by RUPRI in advising policymakers of the implications of public policy on rural people and places, and "a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from and share ideas with world leaders about practical large-scale solutions to challenges both in the United States and globally."
