House Energy and Commerce Commitee Marks Up Broadband Provisions of Stimulus

On Thursday, the Energy & Commerce Committee in the House of Representatives held a mark up of the broadband legislative proposals in the American Recovery & Reinvestment Bill of 2009.  In his opening statement, Rep. Henry Waxman, the Chair of the Committee, stated "The first piece is an investment in expanding broadband internet access so that businesses and households in rural an dother underserved areas can link to the global economy."  Grant funding will be divided between unserved and underserved areas.
