Panels and Networks - Community Policy Analysis Network

The Community Policy Analysis Network is a national network of researchers who collaborate on building predictive models and tools to support better informed state and community policy making.  Over the years since its inception, CPAN has involved more than 50 researchers representing universities in 29 states.

Community Policy Analysis Modeling Book Publication

In 2006, CPAN published the book Community Policy Analysis Modeling, Edited by Thomas G. Johnson, Daniel M. Otto, and Steven C. Deller.  Published by Blackwell Publishing.

Brief description:  With the shifting of responsibility for designing, planning and managing federally funded programs to state and local government, there is a need for a new group of public servants and others to be aware of how to deal with these responsibilities and challenges.  The book outlines and documents a set of community level analytical tools and procedures to assist local decision-making processes. The major goals of the book are to provide a reference for future community policy modeling and analysis efforts, and to provide a group of examples of applications of modeling.   http://store.blackwell-professional.com/9780813804538.html

Plans for a Book on Targeted Regional Economic Development

This book, with many chapters authored by CPAN members, will build upon a series of workshops and working papers organized by the Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development and RUPRI.  The volume will focus on targeted regional economic development strategies, how they have evolved over time, and provide information for policymakers and practitioners interesting in understanding their regions’ competitive advantages.
