On July 8, the RUPRI National Advisory Board met via conference call. The first order of business was to welcome Roger Johnson, new president of the National Farmers Union, to the Board.
The RUPRI National Advisory Board is a 29 member body of diverse geographic and sector representatives who serve a critical role in consulting with RUPRI staff about current and emerging rural issues. Click here to see board membership.
The board heard updates on the rural implications of health care reform and had presentations from three of its members addressing rural philanthropy and investment, heir's property rights of poor and minority landowners, and the roles of community colleges in rural places.
The board meets quarterly, with the next meeting scheduled for mid-October in Missouri.
